Creative commercial portraits, of bands, artists, musicians, are where I found and defined my style of portrait photography. Roughly four years ago I started the Kansas City Christian Hip Hop Project and had the honor of creating portraits for thirteen of Kansas City’s most talented Christian Hip Hop artists. We explored abandoned locations and dramatic lighting to create pictures that told a story. Each one just as unique as the artists being captured.
This project opened doors for me to create with other artists, both local and national. It is amazing how blessed I have been to go on this journey and meet the people that I have met. To photograph commercial portraits for artists who deserve to have the spotlight on them. Artists who have messages that need to be heard.
I get to play a small part in allowing the world to see these artists. To catch a glimpse of who they are. I can’t wait for the next opportunity to connect with and photograph another fellow creative. I look forward to seeing how they use the images to promote their brands and tell their stories. I look forward to seeing each of them be successful and grow. It truly is the best career in the world.
Here are images from some of the creative commercial portrait sessions that I have done.
