I had an awesome portrait session with Harrisonville Senior, Calah. We faced what may have been the coldest day of March to create some amazing images in the snow. Calah is a quiet and peaceful soul. When you meet her, you can tell that she observes what is happening around her and just takes it all in. I think that is part of being the youngest child as I am the same way.
Even though Calah is a Harrisonville Senior, we headed out to the James a Reed Wildlife Reserve for the first part of her session. Calah loves the outdoors and the serenity of being in the country. The great thing about the location we went to is the large barns on the property. They provide a beautiful set and backdrop for senior pictures. As soon as I sat down with Calah and her mom, I knew that this location was exactly the spot to shoot her session.
For the second portion of Calah’s session, we headed to the performing arts center at Harrisonville High School. Calah is an accomplished and talented pianist. Our goal at the performing arts center was to take some pictures with the grand piano on the stage. Now, if you’ve ever been to a high school PAC, you understand that they are not the most beautiful places to take pictures. This type of challenge pushes me to be even more creative. I love working with off camera lighting and flashes. With the help of MagMod, I was able to play with the reflections in the piano and create some awesome portraits of Calah, all while diminishing the surroundings. These piano images were by far some of my favorite from this senior portrait session.
If you are a Harrisonville Senior, or a senior in any school, let’s talk about creating some awesomely unique portraits for you!
